The availability of a multi-track audio cassette tape recorder offered The Institute a new approach to exploring ways of making music using minimal musical equipment. This led quickly to the purchase of a drum machine to augment the existing group set up. The Institute soon realised that the use of the drum machine dramatically altered the soundscape to one suggesting a machine orientated future. There followed much work using the drum machine and the very earliest recordings of these experiments are presented here on Disc 2.
